Management Team

Tim Heywood

Tim Heywood is the founder and CTO of NDS8. Firstly providing the high level skills to less well accredited partners and subsequently directly to the market, Tim has been working in the Novell World for 16 years. Tim has a great depth of technical understanding; specialising in Clustering, GroupWise and Systems Architecture, while still providing consultancy with the more traditional NetWare and BorderManager products.

Tim has presented at conferences around Europe and America on subjects as diverse as "Upgrading from Exchange" to "Commoditising Clustering". Tim is a Novell Support Forums SysOp and has presented for Novell at BrainShare every year since 2000 and at UK technical events; Tim enjoys practising what he preaches with all of Novell's products.

Mike Hinton

Mike joined NDS8 as Managing Director in May 2006. Mike was Managing Director of Cedalion, a Microsoft Gold Partner, until the company's sale to Charteris PLC in November 2004. Mike spent a further 18 months with Charteris, working to integrate the businesses and manage the Scottish Practice. Mike's work within Cedalion was recognised in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards in 2004 with Cedalion also being recognised in the Deloitte Fast 50 awards for 4 consecutive years. Prior to entering the IT industry Mike qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG. Mike is also a non executive director of New Horizons in the UK.

Mark Robinson

Mark joined NDS8 in December 2004 to strengthen the company's Linux offering. His previous company had been a SuSE Linux Advanced Partner in Scotland for a number of years. Mark has a long background with Linux technologies, having first deployed Linux file and print solutions as far back as 1999. Since joining NDS8 Mark has diversified into Clustering and core Novell technologies, such as OES, and has become a SysOp on Novell's support forums.

Mark is also a technical trainer, and a regular presenter at conferences in the UK and USA. He has presented sessions on diverse topics, such as Samba, Clustering and OES Best Practices.

He was appointed to the Management Team in May 2007.

Mark Broughton

Mark was appointed a non-executive director in December 2005; in addition to his non-executive responsibilities he has a watching brief on the company's marketing activities. Mark's background is in marketing and communications in the technology sector including communications and defence electronics. He runs his own business, Marontech Communications, which provides support to SMEs in the tech sector. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

Student Groupwise System

The University wanted to provide a comprehensive and highly available email service to its students and staff. This system had to be in place for the start of the 2006/07 academic year. The solution had to be scalable and resilient to ensure a very high level of service to the student community. The system had to be able to support at least 23,500 mailboxes with a minimum of 3,500 concurrent users.
